The Anti-Defamation League on Wednesday, Oct. 27, canceled its national meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 4, to Saturday, Nov. 6, due to the ongoing hotel lockout. This continues a snakebitten history of ADL events scheduled to take place in San Francisco; the 2001 national meeting was nixed following the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
“We had a lot of debates and discussions about it. We polled some our speakers and attendees and they said they’d be unwilling to attend the meeting,” said Jonathan Bernstein, the ADL’s regional director.
He estimated 350 people might have attended the meeting, which would have been held at the Palace Hotel.
The lockout led Hadassah to cancel a recent Bay Area event as well.
