As a young man played professional soccer. Bicycle racer. Store-keeping technician in French army based in Marrakech, Morocco. Worked as heavy equipment operator. Motorpool dispatcher at American Air Force base in Ben Guerir, Morocco. Worked on establishing John F. Kennedy cultural center in Casablanca. Eldest son died in Six-Day War. Moved to San Francisco in 1969. Worked for Fritzi of California. President of Anshey Sfard synagogue for many years.

Sister of the late Nadine and Peter Williams. Aunt to many. Born in Piedmont. Graduated from U.C. Berkeley. Longtime volunteer at Mount Zion Hospital and the Jewish Home, where she served as treasurer of the auxiliary for 14 years. Services were held at the Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel in Colma. Mayers, David Charles. In Burlingame, March 12. Age 90. Husband for 54 years of Erma “Pat” Mayers. Father to John Mayers, Judy Rose (and Allen Hasty), Janet (and Rip) Vanwinkle and Joyce Rice. Grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of three. Brother of Marge Colvin. Lifelong friend to Carl Rothblum. Third-generation San Franciscan. Graduate of Lowell High School and U.C. Berkeley. Began his career as an insurance broker with the family firm of Hyam’s & Mayers. Lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was stationed in London and Paris. On Nov. 11, 1950, he married and soon after returned to San Francisco. Longtime member of the Civitan Club, Lake Merced Golf Club, U.C. Berkeley and Lowell Alumni. Retired in 1980, after 40 years in the insurance business. Spent his retirement traveling the world. Volunteer with Travelers Aid at San Francisco International Airport. Aunt of Eleanor Coffman, the late Jerrell Siegel, Nancy (and Charles) Stanton, and Rabbi Douglas (and Ellen) Kahn. A third-generation San Franciscan. Granddaughter of the late Rabbi Myer Sol Levy of Congregation Beth Israel of San Francisco. Lived in the Washington, D.C., area for more than 50 years.
