Jewish film festival in Aptos this month
Temple Beth El will be hosting its sixth annual Jewish film festival this month.
The films will be screened at Cabrillo College, Room 450, 6500 Soquel Drive in Aptos over two consecutive Sundays, starting Feb. 26. The first program will feature the international hit “Walk on Water” at 10:45 a.m.; the coming-of-age story “Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi” at 1 p.m.; “Ushpizin” and its themes of miracles and Sukkot at 3 p.m.; the documentary “Sentenced to Marriage” at 5 p.m.; and “Sugihara,” the tale of a Japanese diplomat who helped Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazis, at 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 5 will feature “Forgotten Refugees,” a documentary covering the Jews ousted from Arab lands when the state of Israel was born, at 10:45 a.m.; “Korczak,” by Polish filmmaker Andrej Wajda, at 1 p.m.; short films “Beautiful Music” and “Oriental” at 3 p.m.; Israeli documentary “No. 17 is Anonymous” at 5 p.m.; and “Ushpizin” once again at 7 p.m.
A separate screening of “Keep Not Silent,” a film about Orthodox lesbians, will be screened at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at Temple Beth El, 3055 Porter Gulch Road in Aptos.
Tickets are $7 in advance, $8 at the door. Four tickets can be purchased for $25. Admission to “Sugihara” and “Forgotten Refugees” is free.

Audio Webcast launched for teens
Beginning Monday, Feb. 6, a new Webcast called “Nishma” will be launched specifically for Jewish teens.
The show will air 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays on www.jacobmedia.org.
On Mondays and Tuesdays, a segment called “Action/Reaction” will highlight Jewish teens who have impacted the lives of others through social-action programs. On Wednesdays, a segment called “Shout Your Mind” will allow teens to call in and instant message about social issues. On Thursdays, a segment called “Due Respect” will feature Jewish celebrities, philanthropists and more.
Other topics covered include sports, pop culture, Jewish life on college campuses, Israel and world events.
