The New Century Chamber Orchestra, featuring soloist Stuart Canan, will appear four times during the series, beginning with a performance of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.
Its next concert will commence at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, with a program of Rossini’s “String Sonata,” Bernard Hermann’s “Sinfonetta for Strings,” Dvorak’s “Serenade for Strings, Op. 22” and Alberto Williams’ “Suite Argentina Para Instrumentos de Arco.”
The group will return at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 23 with the world premiere of David Carlson’s “New Cello Concerto” featuring soloist Emil Miland, plus Stravinsky’s “Appollon Masagete” and Benjamin Britten’s “Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge.”
Its final appearance will close the series at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, with the world premiere of Kurt Rohde’s “Oculus,” plus Mendelssohn’s “String Symphony” and Carl Nielson’s “Petite Suite.”
Also in the series, the Kronos Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The program will be announced at a later date.
