BRJCC gets $25,000 to build restrooms
The city of Berkeley has awarded the Berkeley Richmond Jewish Community Center a $25,000 community development block grant to construct restroom facilities that comply with federal requirements.
The city’s Housing Advisory Commission recommended funding the JCC’s application earlier this year.
Rabin memorial service is slated in Berkeley
A memorial service in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of the death of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at Berkeley Hillel, 2736 Bancroft Way.

Film series to begin
Ana Matt, who teaches world religions and Jewish spirituality at the Graduate Theological Union, will facilitate discussions prior to the screenings of Jewish films each Monday night for six weeks beginning at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Berkeley Richmond Jewish Community Center, 1414 Walnut St., Berkeley. Future of Jewish press is focus of discussion
Journalists will address the future of the Jewish press at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Judah L. Magnes Museum, 2911 Russell St., Berkeley.
Panelists will include Thomas Goldstein, professor and dean of the U.C. Berkeley journalism department; Marc S. Klein, editor and publisher of the Jewish Bulletin and publisher of the Jewish Community area of America Online; and Marlene Adler Marks, managing editor of the Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles and editor of the 1996 anthology “Nice Jewish Girls: Growing Up in America.”
