Bay Area teen short part of film festival
The teen-produced short “Holidaze” will be showcased twice in the final five days of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.
“Holidaze” is a collaborative effort by students in the S.F.-based New Jewish Filmmaking Project, a program in which teens create and film their own features.
A candid, humorous commentary of do-it-yourself holiday rituals, “Holidaze” examines the sometimes murky relevance of ritual in secular, multicultural lives. The 12-minute film is part of a 96-minute program of eight shorts called “Jews in Shorts.”
The program screens 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Roda Theatre in the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, 2015 Addison St., and 1 p.m. Aug. 9 at the JCC of San Francisco, 3200 California St.
