Bruno was a member of Hebrew University’s department of economics and served, until recently, as vice president and chief economist of the World Bank.

He served as a visiting professor at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of London and Stockholm University.

He also was an adviser to the governments of Mexico, Yugoslavia and Poland.
