Looking for the hot trends in wedding gowns for 2010? Here’s the early line on what’s hot:
• Two dresses: Can’t choose between two looks? Many brides are selecting more than one gown.
“Everybody is loving having two dresses,” said Michelle Nye, assistant manager of Priscilla of Boston, a bridal salon in Scottsdale, Ariz., “like a ball gown for the ceremony and something short, fun and trendy for the reception.”
• One-shoulder dresses: This elegant silhouette is eye-catching and dramatic.
• Retro looks: Classic-looking dresses, always a smart choice, are a big trend this season. Look for tea-length gowns, bows, tulle skirts and more.
• Sleek silhouettes: Simple, sexy gowns provide a beautiful background for great accessories, said Nye. “Accessories are very in right now: headbands, great necklaces, earrings.”
• Romantic details: “Light delicate ruffles, soft romantic fabrics and silk flowers” are all trends for this year, said Lisa Daversa, owner of Destiny’s Bride in Scottsdale.
“We always say the most important thing is the dress and the photographers,” said Nye. And even if brides find a dress that costs a little more, she added, they tend to find a way to get the gown of their dreams.
