A rocket fired by Gaza militants smashed into a greenhouse in an Israeli border village March 18, killing a Thai worker in the first such death since Israel’s offensive against Hamas-ruled Gaza more than a year ago.
The launch defied a long-standing ban by Hamas on such attacks. The dead man was identified as a foreign worker in his 30s from Thailand.
On March 19, Israeli aircraft fired several missiles at Gaza targets, including smuggling tunnels under the Gaza-Egypt border and a metal workshop in Gaza City, Hamas security officials said.
On March 22, Palestinian militants in Gaza fired another rocket into Israel that landed in an empty field without causing any casualties or damage, police said. — ap
