The Contra Costa JCC’s Millman Adult Day Program is sponsoring an informational fair and panel discussion on memory impairment Oct. 6.

The event will feature more than 50 senior facilities and organizations, including Alzheimer’s care centers, assisted-living facilities, home care and care management, and family support services and education.

Experts will offer the latest information on Alzheimer’s, mild cognitive impairment and other memory impairments.

The lineup includes Ruth Gay, director of public policy and advocacy for the Alzheimer’s Association, speaking on “What’s new in Alzheimer’s Research and Public Policy” and Dr. Eric Freitag, executive director and neuropsychologist at the Mt. Diablo Memory Center, speaking on “Memory Care and Assessment for Older Adults.”

The Oct. 6 event begins with a vendor fair from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., with presentations from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Lunch and a raffle will follow. It takes place at the Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, 2071 Tice Valley Blvd., Walnut Creek.

The Millman Adult Day Program is a 24-year-old program of the Contra Costa JCC and Acalanes Adult Education. Licensed by the state of California, it helps with the chalenges of memory impairment due to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and related dementia disorders.
