Naomi Libby Edelson, nee Samiatezky, beloved wife of the late Alvin “Lucky” Edelson (z”l); devoted Mother of Ira (Starr), Martha (Robert Madory), and Claude (Zisl); loving Grandmother (“Grandmaw”/“Ila”) of Jason Edelson, Megan Edelson, Gena Madory, Avi Edelson, Eli Edelson, Minna Loventhal, and Hannah Loventhal; dear sister of the late David P Seaman (z”l); and fond sister-in-law of Ruth Edelson. Naomi will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Services were held on Monday, January 17, at the Piser Chapel in Skokie, Ill. Interment was held at Chevra Shomer Hadas #2 Waldheim. Eva Levine Schaffer
passed away on January 9, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. In 1989 moved to Rossmoor.

Graduated from Rhode Island College and attended Boston University School of Social Work. She worked for many years as a social worker in Providence, R.I.

Eva’s volunteer work included the League of Women Voters in R.I., Chair of the R.I. Chapter of the March of Dimes and President of the Democrats of Rossmoor.

Survived by her son David E. Schaffer and his wife, Rory, of Vienna, Va., daughter Miriam Schaffer and husband, Jeff Idelson of Walnut Creek, her beloved grandchildren Laiah Idelson of Washington, D.C., and Joseph Idelson of Walnut Creek. Predeceased by husband, Joseph J. Schaffer, brother Irving R. Levine, sister Miriam Levine and parents Joseph and Emma (Raskin) Levine.

Burial was held in Providence, Rhode Island on January 17. The family requests donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of choice.

 

The family of Harold M. Schneidman, MD is sad to announce his death on January 21, 2011.

Harold was born on March 28, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Morris and Freda Schneidman. He attended school in Minneapolis and received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. Upon graduating from medical school, Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War as a captain. After returning to the U.S., he did a Residency in Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine. After his residency, Harold founded a private practice at 490 Post Street on Union Square where he remained for almost 50 years. He became a professor of Dermatology at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the chairman of the Dept. of Dermatology at the California Pacific Medical Center. Harold continued to care for his grateful patients until his death.

Harold’s greatest joy was his family. His beloved wife Linda Schneidman, his children Matthew, Marisa, Marc (Lucy), Marla (Kirit) Schneidman, Lewis (Ariel) and Ariella Silberman and his grandchildren Sophia and Katie Schneidman, Naomi and Noah Patel and Violet Silberman. Harold is also survived by his sister Zella Alcouloumre of Los Angeles.  Harold will be remembered for his gentle spirit, compassionate nature and kind ways. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and many patients. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to a favorite Jewish charity of your choice. Services were held on Sunday, January 23 at the Chapel of Home of Peace Cemetery in Colma.
