San Francisco State University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is offering a new course starting in July titled “The Culture of Muslims and Jews: Interwoven Existence Throughout History.”

Philosophy and religious history scholar Ismail Agayev will teach students about the golden era of Jewish and Muslim cultures as they flourished, evolved and interacted fruitfully in places such as Spain, Egypt, Turkey and Iran. Examples from visual arts, music, architecture and poetry will be examined.

OLLI offers a lineup of small, interactive classes that are aimed at people 50 and older.

“The Culture of Muslims and Jews” class will meet Fridays from July 1 to 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at SFSU’s downtown campus inside the Westfield San Francisco Centre. The fee is $150. For more information or to sign up, visit www.creativearts. sfsu.edu/olli.
