David Moohr Glickman
In Bangkok, Thailand, July 15, 2011. Age 81. Memorial services were held at Wat Rat Pho Tong Temple, and his ashes scattered in Thailand, a country he loved. He is survived by Payome (a Thai wildflower), his wife of 37 years, sisters Annie Herzfeld of Bellevue, WA and Jean Schuster of Oakland, CA, as well as nieces, grand-nieces, nephews and grand-nephews.
David was born in Milwaukee, Wis. in 1929 and traveled with his family during the Depression, living in several states and the Soviet Union. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma (1952) and Hastings College of the Law (1954). He was admitted to the California Bar in 1955. After clerking for a Federal District Court Judge, he practiced law in San Francisco, often taking cases that other firms did not want.
He moved to Hawaii in 1965, where he learned to scuba dive and started a commercial diving company. Diving became a passion for him; he completed more than 3,000 dives in his lifetime, many in remote locations. In 1967, he accepted an opportunity to move to Thailand, where he became a gem exporter and proprietor/owner of Lambert International.
He came to love Thailand and the Thai people, learning Thai and becoming one of a small group of foreigners admitted as a solicitor to the Thai Bar. In addition to his well-regarded gem exporting business, he was affiliated with prominent local law firms, where he provided business advice and consulting services.
David faced the end of his life serenely, explaining that he had led a rich and varied life and was satisfied with his accomplishments.

In Forest Knolls at age 89. Beloved wife of Earl D. Raab for 66+ years; loving mother of Earl B. Raab and Liz (David) Lauter; adoring grandmother of Morris Raab, Louie Lauter (Mara McDermott), Devorah Lauter-Prouhet (Jean-Bernard Prouhet), and Mimi and Margie Lauter; treasured great-grandmother of Mollie Simone Lauter; and dear cousin of Barbara Cohen.
Graveside services were held Sept. 27, 2011 at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael, CA. Donations to the Jewish Community Federation, Friends of the Library San Francisco, or Marin Hospice by the Bay, preferred.
