The first session of the new “Introduction to Jewish Life” series is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Osher Marin JCC in San Rafael. The 90-minute classes will be taught by Rabbi Ruth Adar, and the series will run through April 3, 2012.
Designed for Jewish adults as well as non-Jews, the series will examine religion, texts, culture and traditions. It will be divided into three sections: Jewish time, lifecycles and holidays; Jewish texts and their relevance today; and Jewish journeys and stories, with a focus on the Passover story.
Ticket prices range from $50-$60 for one of the three sections to $100-$120 for the full series, which is co-sponsored by Lehrhaus Judaica, Congregation Rodef Sholom and Congregation Kol Shofar.
