Located in Lafayette, the Contra Costa Jewish Day School (CCJDS) combines the highest quality of academics with core Hebrew/Judaic studies. We are a CAIS/WASC-accredited, community day school that is inclusive of all Jewish backgrounds, attracting students from Oakland, Berkeley, and Contra Costa County. CCJDS prepares students for success in school and life and is a critical part of our Jewish future.

From a humble beginning with 21 students just 11 years ago, CCJDS has grown every year since, with 143 students now enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our families rave about the academics, and our students’ hearts and minds are touched by the Judaic studies.

“We chose CCJDS for its Jewish values and individuated instruction. The academic excellence, vibrant community, and our sons’ strong Jewish identity have validated that decision,” said CCJDS parents Joan and Dr. Steve Jacobs. CCJDS has also proudly placed middle school graduates in competitive public and private high schools where they go on to prestigious colleges and universities.

CCJDS highlights include: a commitment to small class sizes, excellence in science education under the leadership of Director of Science Education Dr. Michele Spitulnik, community service programs, “To Be a Mensch” curriculum starting in kindergarten, strong math placements for ninth grade, an all-campus musical production each spring, a custom-built play structure, a new 18,000-square-foot facility set in the beautiful rolling hills of Lafayette, and the attention and care that a nurturing staff of experienced professionals provide.
