Brent Treiger
1958-2011
Brent Treiger passed away on Monday, Nov. 14. Brent was born and raised in New York City, the loving son of Nancy and Ray Treiger. Brent graduated from the six-year honors medical program at Northwestern University. He completed his urology residency at Johns Hopkins in 1991, and he then moved with his loving wife, Karen, to California, where they have resided for the past 20 years.
Brent served on the faculty at UCLA for four years; he saw patients, ran a research lab and participated in numerous clinical trials. His love and pursuit of research led him to the Bay Area, where he worked with numerous companies on drug development mainly in the area of oncology. Brent will always be remembered for his contributions to clinical research.
In addition to his passion for oncological research, Brent enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors. He inspired his family with his adventuresome spirit. Brent never sat still — his body was as active as his mind. He was always planning the family’s next vacation to amazing places, providing lasting memories for his family. Brent traveled the world over. Many of his favorite memories included traveling, camping and backpacking with his family in such places as Yosemite, Alaska and Patagonia. He was also an avid triathlete who enjoyed training in the area.
Brent will be remembered as a loving husband, and an inspiring, caring and wonderful father. His family was his pride and joy. He taught his children to ask questions, to search out answers, and ultimately to develop confidence in themselves. In addition to his wife of 23 years, Karen Treiger, he is survived by his two children, Alex and Jacqueline.
