The 2012 Fammy Awards, the annual fundraiser that honors longtime volunteers for their work with Jewish Family and Children’s Services and in the community at large, will be held March 24 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in San Francisco.

A 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction will start the evening, which will include a 7:30 p.m. dinner, dancing and presentation of the awards.

This year’s honorees are Gerson Bakar, a real estate developer and community leader who established JFCS’ Gary Shupin House, the San Francisco independent living community for adults with developmental disabilities, in honor of his nephew; Elaine and Michael Kaplan, who founded JFCS’ Dream House, for mothers and children who are homeless and victims of domestic violence or human trafficking; and Sophie Macks, a JFCS intern and member of the JFCS Teen Advisory Board whose community activism is in memory of her late mother, Judy Macks, a leader at Congregation Sha’ar Zahav.

All proceeds from the gala will benefit JFCS emergency services for families, programs for teens, end-of-life care, and services for people with disabilities.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is located at 600 Stockton St. in San Francisco. For more information or to make reservations call (415) 449-1256 or email [email protected].
