Angelei, 31, is founder and director of Friends of Lake Turkana, a grassroots orga-nization fighting a dam that threatens to turn the community into a desert. The organization receives grant support from the American Jewish World Service.

Jaron Vogelsang, AJWS program officer in Africa, will join Angelei in conversation and discuss AJWS’ work to defend natural resource rights worldwide.

The event is hosted by the Center for Jewish Studies at the Graduate Theological Union, 2400 Ridge Road, Berkeley. It begins at 11 a.m.; the presentation and dialogue start at 11:30 a.m. For more information and to RSVP, email [email protected] or call (415) 593-3298.
