On May 15 , the Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California will hold its annual day of advocacy in Sacramento, with citizen lobbyists meeting with state lawmakers at the Capitol to discuss issues of concern to the Jewish community.
For the event, JPAC has partnered with the Jewish Community Relations Council, Jewish Family and Children’s Services and other Jewish organizations. Participants will hear from political leaders such as Assembly Speaker John A. Perez, Controller John Chiang and Treasurer Bill Lockyer. They will also meet with elected officials from their districts.
Issues on the agenda include continued government support for social services, assisting victims of human trafficking, and state divestment from Iran. The event kicks off the night before, May 14, with a dinner honoring Assembly member Bob Blumenfield (D–San Fernando Valley).
Early registration is highly recommended. Registration is $95, with discounts for students. Many in the contingent will be staying overnight in a downtown Sacramento hotel, which costs extra. For more information, www.jpac-cal.org or (415) 957-1551 ext. 109.
