The lobby at the Peninsula JCC in Foster City has always featured the works of well-known artists, but what’s currently hanging there is a matter of extra pride: a mural created by the community at the PJCC’s Israeli Independence Day celebration April 26.

The 6-foot-by-6-foot piece was sketched by Israeli artist Neta Levi, a Bay Area resident. Then at the Yom HaAtz-maut party, dozens of guests (including many kids) painted a section of the mural, which represents scenes from Israel.
