Title: Freelance Writer

Pay per story: $200–$350

J. The Jewish News of Northern California is seeking a freelance writer to cover Contra Costa County. If you’re a reporter with an interest in and knowledge of the Bay Area Jewish community — and you live in, or are familiar with, Contra Costa County — get in touch. We’re eager to hear from people of all experience levels: This occasional reporting opportunity could work for an experienced reporter or someone with less experience who has energy, talent and enthusiasm for the subject.

Qualifications:

  • Professional writing and reporting experience
  • Compelling and colorful writing style
  • Experience producing stories on deadline that are clear, accurate, fair and insightful 
  • Some knowledge of Jewish life and news affecting the Jewish community, including Israel, preferred
  • Knowledge of Bay Area Jewish communities a plus
