Rabbi Chayva Lehrman
Executive Director Talya K. Brass

With a name that translates as “people of hope,” this vibrant, egalitarian Jewish community is dually affiliated with the Conservative and Reform movements. In 2021, two historic San Francisco synagogues, B’nai Emunah and Beth Israel Judea, merged to form an inclusive Jewish community on the south side of San Francisco. Am Tikvah is committed to social justice, Jewish values, rituals and continued learning.

The congregation welcomes Jews and non-Jews, experienced prayer leaders, newbies and questioners, and people of all ages and means. People with disabilities and learning differences, people of color and LGBTQ people are the fabric and strength of this diverse family.
