HaShirim
Singing together deepens connection to Judaism and creates a shared spiritual experience through harmony. The mission is community outreach—bringing Jewish choral music to senior facilities, where residents may not otherwise have a chance to experience live music. Participants also benefit by learning to sing in harmony, gaining joy while improving vocal technique and expanding their repertoire.
The group sings folk, Broadway and contemporary liturgical music in Hebrew, Yiddish, English and Ladino. Founded in 2003, HaShirim includes about 30 singers of all ages from the Peninsula and South Bay. Directed by Billie Bandermann, who teaches voice. No auditions required. Meets Mondays 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Moldaw Residences in Palo Alto or on Zoom. Call or email for rehearsal information.
