The Berkeley Afterschool program is designed to support and mentor youth as they grow into confident, curious, and engaged community members. Families can build an afterschool schedule that fits their needs while giving children a joyful, values‑driven experience.

Traditional Berkeley Afterschool (BAS) offers a wide range of activities, including sports, science, art, reading, and many choose‑your‑own options, within a warm, inclusive environment. Jewish values and cultural experiences are woven throughout the week, including Shabbat celebrations. Students may also enroll in weekly Chugim, our specialty enrichment classes, which have included pottery, cooking, creative writing, bookmaking, sewing, Judo, and more.

Edah, the Hebrew‑ and Jewish‑learning pathway, builds on the best of afterschool care while offering a rich environment for experiential education. Students explore Jewish ideas through creativity, critical thinking, and community-building, developing real Hebrew language skills and a strong sense of belonging to the Jewish people.

For 4th and 5th graders, Club Kehillah provides a tailored leadership experience with special field trips, mitzvah projects, and opportunities to mentor younger students.

Families can choose full or part‑time BAS, full or part‑time Edah, or a combination of both.

The JCC is also proud to partner with Adamah SF (formerly Wilderness Torah), which brings nature‑connected Jewish programming to the afterschool offerings.
