JFCS East Bay is a community-based, direct social and human services organization that serves and supports Alameda and Contra Costa county residents of all ages, races and religions. Our vision is a community where everyone can flourish with dignity.  Since its founding in 1877, JFCS East Bay has existed for one purpose: to be of service to the community. The agency is one of two refugee- resettlement agencies in the East Bay, with deep expertise in resettling LGBTQ+ refugees. Direct-service staff hold diverse expertise and are culturally responsive — in many cases they share the same experiences as the clients and communities they serve. Guided by Jewish values and in collaboration with the diverse communities served, the agency contributes to the resilience of communities, families and individuals through comprehensive support services at every stage of life, activating networks of volunteers and engaging the community in public policy and advocacy initiatives to address the systemic issues that face our clients. One-third of the Bay Area’s Jewish population lives in the East Bay. While our mission has broadened to serve the whole community, based on our value of being responsible for one another, we are committed to a set of services specifically for the Jewish community.
