Mendocino Coast Jewish Community
Serves the North Coast from Gualala to Eureka. Rabbi Margaret Holub leads weekly Zoom candle lighting and hybrid Shabbat morning services. Holidays are celebrated throughout the year, including nightly Hanukkah candle lighting and daily shofar sounding during Elul. The 2025 Hanukkah party and raffle drew over 100 participants with a klezmer band, dancing and the annual raffle.
Rabbi offers popular classes throughout the year. The Elders Group meets on Zoom to share concerns and support. The Justice Group focuses on criminal justice, a path to citizenship, abortion rights and the local Indigenous community. The Younger Adults program brings together singles and families to celebrate holidays.
Rabbi draws upon the Reconstructionist prayer book for Shabbat and the High Holidays, incorporating a wide range of resources to meet the needs of participants from different backgrounds and levels of Jewish education. The monthly newsletter, The Megillah, is available on the website. Participation in holidays and meetings is welcomed from those on the coast and beyond via Zoom.
