Bulletin artist, photographer, Resource win national contest Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | June 30, 1995 The Bulletin received another first place award for Resource, a guide to Jewish life in the Bay Area circulated to all Bulletin subscribers. Resource has been lauded with Rockower awards in the past. Jewish Bulletin photographer Phil Head, meanwhile, received second place honors for excellence in photography for his shots of last year's controversial mural of Malcolm X at San Francisco State University. Head's dramatic photos on the front page of the May 27, 1994 issue shows the mural, which included Stars of David amid dollar signs and skulls and crossbones. His camera also caught university workers painting over the mural in the middle of the night as riot police guarded the scene. The Bulletin also was awarded an honorable mention for excellence in overall graphic design. The awards ceremony took place during the AJPA'S annual meeting. There, Bulletin associate publisher Nora Contini was elected second vice president of the AJPA, and Marc S. Klein, Bulletin editor and publisher and a former AJPA president, was re-elected to the body's board of directors. J. Correspondent Also On J.
