Class on Yiddish literature begins Monday in Palo Alto

Martha Krow-Lucal will teach a class on Yiddishkeit: Introduction to Yiddish Literature and Culture at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 13 through June 10 at Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center, 655 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.

Woman from Beth El will dedicate center

Beth El Women will dedicate the Elohai Women's Center at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Peninsula Temple Beth El, 1700 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo.

Festivities include a concert by jazz singer Madeline Eastman, synagogue choir soprano Eleanor Wellman, violist Katherine Bukstein of the Alexander String Quartet, flutists Sarah North and Hannah Tucker of Taylor Middle School in Millbrae and Cantor Ellen Schwab.

Dinner will follow at 5:30 p.m., with a havdallah service and installation of Beth El Women executive board of directors and dedication ceremony. Cost is $10 per child, $20 per adult. For reservations call (415) 341-7701.
