We met at the original Jewish Community Center located on California Street and Presidio Avenue in San Francisco in August 1949. It was a square dance. I was really what was known as a wallflower. I was watching the dancers and this young lady caught my eye. If there is such a thing as love at first sight, this was it. She came up to me and asked me why I was not dancing. I stuttered and stammered out that I did not know how to square dance. I was given lessons right then and there.

After a six-month courtship we were engaged, a wedding date was agreed upon, and on Aug. 5, 1950 we were married. This year will be our 53rd anniversary. We are soulmates.
