NEW YORK (JTA) — The United States deported Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel to Canada on Wednesday for missing an immigration hearing.
More than two years after he left Canada vowing never to return, Zundel is now being held in an Ontario jail.
He previously lived in Toronto for more than 40 years, but failed repeatedly to gain Canadian citizenship, in part because Canadian intelligence officials considered him a threat to national security.
Because he has lived outside of Canada for more than two years, he has now lost his permanent residency status.
