The Albert L. Schultz JCC and KlezCalifornia will present To Life! attendees with Jewish Dance Theatre’s the Freylekh, a klezmer dance party for young and old.

The party begins 12:15 p.m. at the community stage, where several Bay Area groups will come together to lead the music and dancing.

Yiddish dance master Bruce Bierman will teach some basic steps and formations of the popular Yiddish dance the freylekh, while the “shtetl rock” band Kugelplex will provide lively music. Singer Heather Klein, who has performed at many local Jewish music events, will provide the vocals.

Klein returns to the stage at 3:15 p.m. with the Heather Lauren Klein Trio, featuring Yiddish and klezmer cabaret. Klein’s affection for Yiddish music is apparent in her 2007 CD “Mayn Yiddishe Velt,” in which she recreates the sounds of New York’s Yiddish theater from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Community stage action kicks off at 11 a.m. with Cantor Andres Levy of Saratoga’s Congregation Beth David singing Sephardic and Ladino songs. The fun-loving local Yiddish Choristers follow at 11:40 a.m.

Afternoon community stage performances also include Firebird Dance Theater at 1:20 p.m., with dancing from around the world, and Hashirim chorale at 2:15 p.m.
