Bullets fired at a recent wedding in northern Israel arrived at an unintended destination — a bar mitzvah.
Two bullets apparently fired at a wedding taking place in Shibli, a village in the Lower Galilee, reportedly flew into a backyard in nearby Kfar Tavor, where Daniel Goldstein’s bar mitzvah celebration was being held. The bullets hit the backyard tables and there were no injuries among the 90 guests.
“Throughout the entire evening we heard gunshot sounds from a wedding held at the village,” Mirit Goldstein, Daniel’s mother, said a day after the Sept. 16 incident.
After the guests finished their dinner and got ready to watch a special presentation a loud sound was heard.
“One of the guests yelled it was a bullet,” Jonathan Goldstein said. “It just barely missed his hand and his wife.”
The shots apparently caused a mini-panic and sent about half of the guests scurrying into the house.
“We were lucky tonight, a great miracle occurred,” Mirit said. “My son’s celebration could have ended in an unthinkable disaster.”
Mirit said that the family had also experienced ricochet fire from neighboring events on Rosh Hashanah. She noted that Kfar Tavor had already suffered a disaster three years ago when a 9-year-old was run over on Yom Kippur by a resident of the nearby village.
Police officers who were called to the bar mitzvah scene found the two bullets, which had caused damage to some of the tables. — ynetnews.com
