A program offered through the Jewish studies program at the University of San Francisco — but open to students from any college — is looking for participants for a three-week summer program in Israel and the West Bank.

Beyond Bridges: Israel-Palestine is an accredited program that “challenges students to see the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from different angles, engaging narratives often absent or underrepresented in mainstream discourse,” according to a program description. From June 12 to July 3, students will meet with scholars, soldiers, survivors, settlers, Palestinians and others in different locations.

Aaron Hahn Tapper, the director of the Swig Program in Jewish Studies and Social Justice at USF, noted that the second-year program is mainly for university students, “but in theory anyone could do it.” Last year, eight students and staff participated.

The program’s sponsor, the Center for Transformative Education, is based in Redwood City and is an affiliate of Abraham’s Vision. For trip costs and other information, go to www.centerfortrans
