‘The Listener’
Charlie Varon, the writer and performer responsible for the solo shows “Rush Limbaugh in Night School” and “Rabbi Sam,” hits the ground running in 2013 with staged readings of five short comedic stories about a group of retirement-home residents in San Francisco. “The Listener” will be performed in two parts starting on Jan. 5. Subjects include Bernie Schein, who asks himself why, after all the Nazis did, he still wanted to seduce a German teenager, and Selma Cohen, who wonders about her afterlife.
