Walter was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, on May 26, 1920 to Dr. Willy and Ilse Fackenheim. In 1938, he was taken to Buchenwald and imprisoned by the Nazis for six months. After his release, he and his family escaped Nazi Germany to Shanghai, where they remained for eight years. His parents died in Shanghai. In 1946, Walter and his brother Eric immigrated to the United States and arrived in California. Walter rose from stock boy at a department store to become one of the foremost CPAs in the country. He was a world-class joke teller, lovely pianist, and a fount of warmth and charm who cherished his family. Walter is survived by his wife Eva Angress, his sweetheart of 14 years; his son William (Janet); daughter-in-law Leslie; grandchildren Rachel (Matt), Eric, Maya (Chase) and Julian; and great-grandchildren Saul, Chloe, Isaac and Iris. He is survived by Eva’s children Lee (Tom) and David (Lydia), and grandchildren Aaron, Lisa (Ben), Jason, Jake, and Josh. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida, his brother Eric and his son Eugene. Walter’s family thanks his devoted caregivers Betty, Jacqueline, Virginia, Maribelle and Hospice by the Bay. Walter’s funeral services were held at Sinai Memorial Chapel, and he was laid to rest at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma. He is at peace after a long and fascinating life. May his memory be for a blessing. David Matthew Freehling May 13, 1957–Aug. 24, 2014 David passed away peacefully at his home in Ventura surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his loving family: Reisa, his wife of 36 years, children Zac (Maddy) and Sara, sister Shira, brother Jonathan (Teresa), father Rabbi Allen (Lori), and mother Lee (Paul Cooley) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David had a positive impact on everyone he met. He was a lover of people, music, travel, food and laughter. Ullrich Jan. 9, 1916–Aug. 29, 2014 Beloved and loving wife of the late Walter Ullrich, Dorothy was born and raised in San Francisco. Survived by her only son Jack Ullrich. Loving stepmother to Marlene Bois; adored grandmother to Scott Ullrich, Jennifer Ullrich, Shar Bois, Warren Bois, Joe Robertson and Mike Robertson; loving aunt to Marcia Silva, Tony Silva, Jan Ross, and many nieces and nephews; dear sister of the late Sheldon Fox, Albert Fox, Ceil Minkus, Tillie Wolf and Rae Grubstick. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Services were held at Eternal Home Cemetery, Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be kindly appreciated.
