Rabbi Michael Rothbaum is arrested Sept. 4 in front of a Burger King in downtown Oakland while taking part in a protest over low wages for fast food workers. The rally, which blocked the busy intersection at Broadway and 13th Street, was part of a national campaign to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and give fast-food workers the right to unionize. According to media reports, nine men and five women were taken into custody, cited and released. Rothbaum, an associate rabbi and educator at Beth Chaim Congregation in Danville, also was arrested in April for taking part in a San Francisco rally urging the U.S. government to halt deportations.  photos/courtesy rabbi michael rothbaum
