The third annual East Bay Tikkun Olam Chessed Day, which takes place Oct. 19, seeks sign-ups.
The event will begin with a 9 a.m. kickoff rally at Temple Sinai, 2808 Summit St., Oakland. After that, volunteers will join one of 15 projects — from crafts and letter-writing at Sinai, to activities throughout the East Bay such as indoor and outdoor cleanups, painting and helping seniors.
The event is sponsored by six congregations, three Jewish schools and several Jewish organizations. Last year, 214 volunteers engaged in chessed (acts of loving-kindness).
The website at www.tinyurl.com/ebtocd2014 has more details and lists volunteer opportunities. Deadline to sign up is Oct. 6. For questions, contact Shelley Zak at [email protected] or Teri Bleckner at [email protected].
