Jewish student choir forming Bay Area chapter

An international choir for Jewish high school students that has chapters throughout the United States and in Israel will hold auditions in June for a new Silicon Valley singing group.

HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir aims to strengthen young people’s Jewish identity and build community while developing a high level of choral performance. It was founded 22 years ago under the umbrella of the Zamir Choral Foundation and now has 27 chapters stretching from Los Angeles to Jerusalem. Teens in the program meet weekly to learn a shared singing repertoire, and the chapters come together in New York every year for a gala concert.

Teens entering grades eight through 12 who are interested in joining HaZamir’s first Northern California chapter can attend an informational open house at 10:30 a.m. May 31 in a private home (RSVP to [email protected]). Auditions will be held June 7.
