A conference to create a global Jewish food movement was held this week in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
The Harvest, which ran Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, was a three-day festival of learning, cooking and serving Jewish cuisine.
The event was organized in partnership with Connection Points, an initiative for young Jewish people by the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, and with the Jewish environmental organization Hazon. Top Jewish restaurateurs, chefs, farmers, entrepreneurs, bloggers and cookbook authors took part.
“So many of the important innovators and industry disruptors in the food world are Jewish. We wanted to tap into — and explore — that energy source at The Harvest gathering,” said Sarah Kornhauser, one of the conference directors. “The purpose of The Harvest is to unite this group, giving them room to examine and expand their connection to food, Judaism, and each other.” — jta
