HBO has acquired the rights to develop the Israeli television series “Nevelot,” (“Bastards”), which is based on a novel by the late Israeli author Yoram Kaniuk, the Israeli business daily Globes reported.

The series dealt with two veterans of the Palmach, the elite fighting force of the underground Haganah army during the British Mandate, who go on a violent spree against indifferent Israeli youth.

The U.S. series will focus on two Vietnam veterans who go on a vigilante spree in Miami, and will be produced by Happy Madison, Adam Sandler’s production company, which is part of Sony Pictures Television. — jta
