A Northern California man has been linked to the distribution of Goyim TV’s antisemitic flyers in Chico after publishing photos and videos of himself in the act on social media.

A sprawling investigation published June 20 by Redding-based journalism site A News Cafe revealed multiple videos of Christopher Acret, 37, tossing Goyim TV flyers out of his car window as he drove through neighborhoods in the city of about 100,000 people. Shawn Schwaller, a Chico State University history professor and freelance writer who monitors extremist hate, conducted the investigation.

The Goyim TV flyers, which over the past two years have peppered cities in 36 states, including a number of Bay Area cities, claim “every single aspect of the media is Jewish,” “every single aspect of the slave trade was Jewish” and other antisemitic canards.

Goyim TV, also known as the Goyim Defense League, is a virulent white supremacist network that for years was based in Petaluma.

The discovery of the hateful flyers around Chico and in parts of Redding was covered by a local broadcaster on June 18. Meanwhile, Acret had posted a video of himself two days earlier tossing the flyers from his vehicle.

The Chico Police Department has received a number of reports of flyers over the last six months, Public Information Officer Kelly DeLeon said.

“At this point, the flyering incidents are considered hate incidents. Based on the information gathered thus far, it appears that this is a general distribution of hate material,” DeLeon told J. on Thursday. “The Chico Police Department has not identified any suspects,” she added.

According to Schwaller’s investigation, Acret uses the online handles “thepistilpacker” and “pistil” on Gab and Odysee, which are social networking platforms popular with the alt-right. In one video posted on the pistil Gab page and reviewed by J., a man off camera goes through a box of flyers in plastic bags filled with rocks — a signature of Goyim TV’s campaign that weighs down the flyers to keep them in place.

In an April 22 post, Acret shared clips from local broadcaster Action News Now covering the flyer drops in Chico in February and March with the caption, “3 flyerings 3 news reports.” A few days later, Acret shared another article on the flyers, writing “Who did that?”

The Gab and Odysee accounts detail a long history of hate speech toward Jews, people of color and members of the LGBTQ community. Posts to a related Facebook account show an extensive gun collection, including an AR-15 assault rifle.

On Thursday evening, Acret responded to a Facebook message seeking comment from J. In his message he complained that coverage he had received in A News Cafe, J. and elsewhere was “proof of Jewish supremacy.”

“No one would care if I was passing out flyers critical of white supremacy,” he wrote. “But if you question jewish supremacy you get doxxed and your extended family gets harassed by random people.

“Dare you to put that in the article,” Acret added.

Teresa Drenick, the S.F.-based interim regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, said the ADL is aware of Acret and has linked him to the dissemination of antisemitic flyers in California.

The ADL’s annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents reported 3,697 incidents in the U.S. in 2022, the highest number on record and a 36% increase from 2021, the previous highest year. Of the recorded incidents, the ADL attributed 822 to Goyim TV and its supporters.

A further investigation by the ADL showed that California accounted for the second-highest number of antisemitic incidents in the U.S. in 2021 and 2022, surpassed only by New York.
