The Nigunim Community Chorus is expanding. A spinoff of the 10-year-old choral group, which meets in Berkeley, is forming in Marin. The new group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays at Congregation Kol Shofar, 215 Blackfield Drive, Tiburon. Both choruses are under the direction of Achi Ben Shalom, a singer and musician with a longtime presence on the Bay Area Jewish music scene.
The chorus sings traditional and contemporary songs in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and English.
The first regular meeting and practice takes place Wednesday, Oct. 7. The 10-week choral cycle culminates with a Hanukkah concert in December.
