Janet Elaine Goldberg
Aug. 19, 1942–June 20, 2026
Janet Elaine Goldberg passed away on June 20, 2026, at age 83, after a valiant fight with cancer. Surrounded by her family, she passed peacefully.
Janet was born on August 19, 1942, in Los Angeles to Anna and David Stone. She grew up in Los Angeles with her older brother Marvin, graduated from Hamilton High School, and went to the University of California, Los Angeles. During that time, her cousin Don Kaufman introduced her to the man who would become the love of her life, Henry Goldberg, who was in medical school at UCSF. She soon transferred to UC Berkeley, and they were married on June 10, 1962, while they were both finishing school. She received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1963.
Jan and Hank first lived in Daly City, where they soon had two daughters, Debra and Lara. They had a brief stay in Maryland from 1968 to 1970 while Henry was in the army and was assigned to Walter Reed Hospital. In 1970, the family moved back to California with their third child, Steven, in tow and settled down in Tiburon in the house that she lived in for the rest of her life. Jan and Hank shared a love without rival, and she loved him deeply until his passing in 2005.
After landing in Tiburon, in addition to raising her children, Jan served as president of the local elementary school board.
In a transformational moment in her life, she and her friend Paula Jaffe started Delicious Catering in 1974.Through Jan’s and her many partners’ commitment and persistence, Delicious grew and served the community, helping families celebrate many birthdays, weddings, bar/bat Mitzvahs and graduations, and through the harder milestones of life. Jan became synonymous with Delicious, and her pride at not only the success of Delicious, but also the amazing team of people who worked there, stayed with her until she retired after 47 years.
Her commitment to the community spread beyond her business as she gave her time to many different organizations. She was involved with the Women of Rodef Sholom, Enriching Lives through Music (ELM), Business Executives Association of Marin (BEAM) and supported the American Bach Soloists. She had many hobbies over the years, including bicycle riding, listening to live music (classical), gardening, knitting, and watching baseball (Go Giants!). During COVID, she found her love of birds. She enjoyed listening to them and watching shore birds on walks, and her bird feeder brought a bevy of birds to her backyard that she watched every day.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Syvia) Goldberg, Debra (Donald) Wanamaker, and Lara Gremmels, her grandchildren Michael, Alex, and Cameron (Alexis), and her nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life was held on June 24 at Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael. In lieu of gifts or flowers, Jan would appreciate donations to ELM (Enriching Lives through Music) and the American Bach Soloists. Jan will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched along her journey through life.
Allan M. Goldfinger
Aug. 21, 1935–June 23, 2026
Allan Goldfinger died peacefully on June 23, 2026 at the age of 90 years. Allan was born and raised in San Francisco. He served in the Navy and later attended Golden Gate University to become a practicing CPA. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Shirley Mildes. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Goldfinger, and his stepchildren, Kathy Malland, David Mildes (Rosa), Chuck Mildes (Jennie), and their children, Paul, Christopher, Axel and Eric.
