The festival opens with a free “Why Tai Chi: Historical Lecture and Demonstration” by tai chi instructor Ken Chase at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5 at the JCC of S.F.

Other lectures include “Don’t Forget: Factors Affecting Your Memory and What to Do About Them,” by geriatric clinical nurse specialist Marilyn Williams at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6; “Keep It To Yourself: Privacy and Consumer’s Rights by Laurel Pallock of the San Francisco District Attorney’s office at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7; and “Prescription IQ,” by pharmacist Adam Lee at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, all free, at the JCC of S.F.

“On the Threshold of the 21st Century: An Evening with Elie Wiesel” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at Congregation Emanu-El. Tickets are $25 for students and seniors, $30 general admission, purchased through City Box Office, (415) 392-4400, or BASS, (415) 762-2277.

Back at the JCC of S.F. on May 10, Dr. David L. Curtis will speak on “Caring for Your Bones and Joints” at 10 a.m.; Singer Sylvie Braitman will perform at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 12; a panel discussion on “Securing Your Health Care Future” will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, May 13; and “Forgetfulness: Is it Normal Aging or Is It Alzheimer’s?” by Laura Sands in a UCSF/Mount Zion Center on Aging presentation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15.

Participants are invited to a mall walk at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at Stonestown Galleria, followed by ballroom dancing and afternoon tea at 1 p.m. at JCC of S.F.
