The American Jewish Committee launched an Arabic Web site about Jews and Judaism called Asl al Yahud (www.aslalyahud.com).

Yehudit Barsky, director of the project, said the site will “facilitate a deeper understanding and tolerance towards Jews.”

“We’re demystifying Judaism and dispelling widespread misinformation about the Jewish people in the Middle East, North Africa and beyond,” he said.

Asl al Yahud — which means “origins of the Jews” — covers Jewish history, culture and religion, and connects those subjects to Arab countries. The site also has information about Jewish lifecycle events, holidays and religious practices.
