Congregation Beth Israel's second building, on Geary Boulevard, was completed in 1908. It was almost completed in 1906, but was destroyed by the earthquake and had to be rebuilt. In 1969, Beth Israel merged with Temple Judea to form Congregation Beth Israel Judea. Decades later, BIJ is merging with yet another synagogue, Congregation B'nai Emunah.
