Cut a piece approximately 10-to-12-inches long and 3 inches wide. Lay a 13-inch wick on top and roll tightly (at room temperature). Cut three equal sections to make three candles. Braid the three candles together in a basin of warm water (as above). Spice boxes (besamim) Best spices to use are cinnamon sticks, allspice, whole cloves, and aromatic leaves such as bay, eucalyptus, mint and pine needles. Commercial potpourri can also be used. *Potpourri style: Use squares of colorful fabric or tulle. Place spices and/or potpourri in the center of the cloth and tie with decorative ribbons into a little bundle. *Film containers: Coat outside of container with very light coat of white glue. Wrap colorful yarn around in tight coils. Punch holes in top. *Spice containers: Use metal spice containers sold in stores. Glue on macaroni, buttons or woodchips.
