Marion Schrager (maiden name Mazurosky) and Hubert Schrager were married on Jan. 16, 1954 at Temple Sholom in San Francisco. Rabbi Saul White officiated. I remember the weather vividly, cold and rainy.

I invited a co-worker of mine to the wedding and reception, and she offered to film our happy event. In those days, 8 mm was what everyone used and there was no sound. The movie of our wedding in the synagogue came out clear. However, that famous San Francisco weather caught us by surprise on the way to the social hall. We had to go outside the synagogue and walk over to another building to get to the social hall for dinner and dancing. We did not find out until we saw the movie that the rain and fog misted over the camera lens, so the reception film is all blurred! We still enjoy looking at the movie, and we since have added background music.

Hubert and I have three children, Florene, Philip and Laura. We also have three grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel and Nicole.

I really enjoy reading the wedding stories in the Jewish Bulletin. In fact, one of my bridesmaids, Norma Slavit (maiden name Kaufman) and her husband, Herb, told their story in last year’s Bulletin. I was very excited to read about Norma, because we had lost touch with each other. Since Norma works in Palo Alto at the Jewish Community Center, I called her and we have had a chance to renew our friendship after 30 years.

I’ll bet that no one expected that the wedding stories would reunite lost friends!
