Correspondent | January 8, 1999 On Saturday afternoon, activities such as meditation, storytelling, Torah study, singing, and ritual drumming and movement will take place in private homes. At 7 p.m. Saturday, a havdallah service is scheduled, followed by a dance party with Adama and the Shtetlblasters. Organizers include individuals from grassroots groups and congregations, such as Aquarian Minyan, East Bay Chavurah, Nishmat Shalom, Beit Chessed, the Jewish Discussion Group, Kehilla Community Synagogue and Chochmat HaLev. Funding includes a grant from the Jewish Federation of the Greater East Bay. All events, except for the Shabbat afternoon activities, will take place at the Northbrae Community Church, 941 The Alameda, Berkeley. Donations of $5 to $20 are requested for the services and afternoon events. Tickets to the dance party cost $12 at the door. For participants who wish to pay in advance, there is an $18 charge for the entire weekend. The Shabbaton is also seeking volunteers to help the weekend of the event.
