State Court of Appeal Justice Norman Epstein officiated Kopp's swearing in Saturday in Los Angeles. Sixty-five relatives and family of the mercurial lawyer-come-politician-turned-judge witnessed the ceremony. Attendees included former state Sen. David Robert, college friends, law school buddies and individuals from the movie industry.

Kopp is a member of San Francisco's Congregation Beth Israel-Judea.
